Gates Poly Chain® GT Carbon™ System
Overview:
The Gates Poly Chain® GT Carbon™ System is a premium synchronous belt drive engineered for the highest efficiency and reliability in continuous-duty mechanical systems. Utilizing advanced carbon-fiber tensile cords and a durable polyurethane body, this system eliminates the stretch, slippage, and lubrication requirements of roller chains or conventional V-belt drives. For Data Centers and large-scale HVAC installations, Poly Chain® GT Carbon™ delivers the torque, precision, and energy savings needed to maintain uptime and reduce power consumption in rooftop compressors, chillers, and critical cooling infrastructure.
Key Technical Advantages:
Superior Drive Efficiency: Provides up to 5–7 % higher energy efficiency compared to roller chains or traditional V-belts, directly reducing system power draw.
Maintenance-Free Operation: Requires no lubrication, re-tensioning, or periodic adjustment—ideal for continuous-service rooftop and chiller applications.
High-Torque Capacity: Carbon-fiber tensile cords ensure exceptional strength, load capacity, and dimensional stability under high static or shock loads.
Extended Temperature Range: Operates from –54 °C to +85 °C (–65 °F to +185 °F) with minimal performance variation.
Corrosion- and Chemical-Resistant: Polyurethane construction withstands exposure to oil, moisture, and environmental contaminants.
Low Noise and Vibration: Synchronous operation eliminates belt slip, improving equipment longevity and acoustic performance.
Compact System Design: Enables narrower, lighter, and more efficient drive layouts compared to chain or banded belt systems.
Data-Center Application Focus:
In Data Center environments, where uptime and energy efficiency are directly tied to cooling reliability, the Gates Poly Chain® GT Carbon™ System provides a proven solution for compressor, blower, and chiller drives. Its maintenance-free, synchronous performance ensures constant speed ratios and power delivery under 24/7 operation, reducing belt-related downtime and extending component life. The combination of high-torque transfer and precise motion control supports optimal HVAC efficiency and helps lower Power Usage Effectiveness (PUE) metrics. By upgrading to Poly Chain® GT Carbon™, operators gain measurable energy savings, reduced maintenance labor, and enhanced mechanical reliability in their mission-critical cooling infrastructure.
